The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) will be mandatory subjects for all engineering students, starting from the 2024-25 academic session. This move is aimed at ensuring that the next generation of engineers is equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital age.
The AI and ML courses will be integrated into the core curriculum of all engineering programs, covering topics such as the fundamentals of AI, machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and their applications in various domains. The AICTE has also mandated that all engineering colleges must have dedicated labs and resources for hands-on learning in these subjects.
“The integration of AI and ML into the engineering curriculum is a crucial step towards preparing our students for the jobs of the future,” said Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of AICTE. “This initiative will help bridge the skill gap and ensure that our engineers are at the forefront of technological innovation.”
